Inaugural Concert Weekend for the Grand Piano and Family Fun

Excitement is mounting as we welcome the "Grand Piano for Cornwall for all to Enjoy" at its inaugural concert for the Roseland Music Society on the evening of Friday 27th February at Gerrrans Memorial Hall. The Russian born concert pianist Yulia Chaplina is returning to the Roseland (and to Cornwall) to give a "Benefit" concert towards the society's acquisition to celebrate its 25th birthday.
She will not only be performing a concert (see details below) but on the following morning she will be presenting the piano in a short FREE Family Concert - suitable for children and parents at 11.30 till 12.15 on Saturday morning 28th February. All are welcome. It will be very relaxed.
One of the main works in her programme will be Tchaikovsky's only major work for solo piano "The Seasons" and that is the theme of a display that will be on show in the Hall forboth the concert and for the following morning session of artwork by the children of all four primary schools on the Roseland. Inspired by music and the theme of the upcoming concert Carol O'Toole the local artist led children in an session of artwork creation to music. Carol O'Toole was supported by local musicians Julia Desbruslais, cello and Michael Posner, violin - also local residents. The paintings and collages will all be on display in the Memorial Hall on Saturday for all to enjoy. Come and share the creativity of our younger residents!
Yulia Chaplina's Friday night concert programme will include some very popular works for piano. In addition to the Tchaikovsky she will paly Mozart's Sonata k 331 which includes the Rondo alla Turca, Chopin's Minute Waltz and Raindrop Prelude and more works by Scriabin
